" Progress " is a newspaper of the Jadids. It has been published since June 14 (27), 1906 in Tashkent. The publisher and editor is Ismail Abidi. Progress is literally the first national publication. Its pages contained articles, messages and information dedicated to the bold exposure of the colonial policy of tsarist Russia in Turkestan.
The critical focus in the feuilletons and other materials printed in Progress, thanks to the strong spirit of exposure, it became the most popular publication of that time and had a great influence on public opinion. The pages of Progress published works by Munavvarkari Abdurashidkhanov, Mahmudhoja Behbudi, Sufizoda, Nozimakhanim, Bahrombek Davletbekov, Shokir Mukhtari, Zarif Khaliki and others promoting the ideas of national liberation and progress.
The path taken by Progress, the scope and purpose of the newspaper, and the acute critical spirit in the works published in it did not suit the colonial authorities. After the release of issue 19, Progress was closed. The editor was arrested and the newspaper's property was confiscated. Since June 27, 1993, when the first issue of Progress was published, the "Day of Press and Mass Media Workers" has been celebrated in our country.
