Abu Lais Samarkandi, full name Abu Lais Nasr ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ibrahim as-Samarkandi, is a Central Asian religious figure, Islamic theologian, writer and scholar, born in the 10th century and died in 1003 (XI century). Born in Samarkand, was the Sheikh-ul-Islam of this city. According to some reports, his ancestors arrived in Samarkand from the Iranian city of Tus.
Known as the author of a number of books about Islam, such as Tafsir ul-Kuran (Tafsir of the Koran), Khazinat ul-Fiqh (Treasury of Fiqh), Bustan ul-arifin (Country of Arifs) and others .
In Samarkand, one of the streets in the old part of the city bears the name of Abu Lais Samarkandi.
